1442: Hydroxypropyl distarch phosphate (HDP) is a modified resistant starch, prepared from Tapioca Starch. Chemically modified starches (CMS) are more resistant to retrogradation, have higher viscosity and are more stable in response to acid and high temperature than is native starch. Therefore, CMS are increasingly used by the food industry to improve the physical properties of various food items.
1412: Distarch phosphate esterified with phosphorous oxychloride is a maize (corn) thickener and vegetable gum.
464: Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, or hypromellose, is an emulsifier, thickening and suspending agent, and an alternative to animal gelatin. It's a modified cellulose made from plant fibres and is used to enhance texture. Nutritionally it counts as 100% soluble fibre.
